About Ruby Gibson



Guided by years of spiritual studies and personal healing, Ruby Gibson brings a compassionate heart to her writing and healing practice. Ruby is a woman of mixed descent who embraces many traditions, and is the mother of three beautiful children. An Earth centered ceremonialist, she began her spiritual journey at the age of 13 and has spent her life in service to the healing of Mother Earth and the betterment of her community. She believes in the power of the circle of life, holding optimism for the peaceful transformation of humanity.

As a certified somatic therapist, Ruby has worked with children and adults for thirty years, specializing in recovery from trauma, abuse, injury, addictions, PTSD, and chronic pain. Ruby is a somatic pioneer who bridges bodywork, psychology, shamanism, and spirituality into a technique she developed called Somatic Archaeology™. A national educator for eighteen years, she teaches a professional certification program in Somatic Archaeology™, along with workshops in Earth centered healing and aromatherapy. She is also an instructor at Naropa University's Extended Studies Program in Boulder, Colorado.

Author of My Body, My Earth: The Practice of Somatic Archaeology™, (which will be available in April 2008), Ruby is a poet and freelance writer, and owner of Howling at the Moon Productions located in the foothills of Colorado. In addition, Ruby is Director of Family Programs for ONE Freedom, a Colorado non-profit group that provides education and training for our nation's warriors and their families regarding the challenges of military deployments and the return to home. She is part of a dynamic team offering a powerful framework that places stress mitigation and trauma resolution in the hands of each individual.

As a child advocate, Ruby is president of Freedom Lodge non-profit group, and has worked with community youth in sports and violence prevention programs for eight years. Freedom Lodge currently offers ECHO: Earth Centered Healing Outreach for community de-griefing and crisis intervention, providing services for the Wildland Firefighters Foundation. Historically, Ruby was the program coordinator for the North American campus of the International Indigenous University, and the former Director of the Colorado School of Healing Arts.
